Nutella. So good. There is nothing that needs to be improved. One of my favourite go to treats is just to spread some Nutella on a biscuit. Simple, easy and delicious.
For some reason, there were signs to make Nutella everywhere today – starting with a recipe popping up on the internet and ending with my brother actually sending me a recipe of how to make a more healthy version of Nutella.
I’ll admit, I saw that recipe and wasn’t as thrilled because it involved too many ingredients and I’m a simple recipe girl. Maybe one day I’ll try it out – always good to have a healthier version of treats around.
This version of the recipe was super easy, perhaps a little time consuming, but tastes great.
Ingredients:
1 cup hazelnuts
1 cup powered sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup of melted semisweet chocolate
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of canola oil
Instructions:
In a food processor, blend up the hazelnuts until it is formed into a liquid paste – takes a bit of time, so be patient!
Once that is done, add in the rest of the ingredients and combine to blend it all up until you are happy with the consistency/taste. I wanted mine to be a bit more chocolately, so I added in the melted chocolate – if you are happy with just the hazelnut, then leave out the chocolate! Though a bit more chocolate never hurt anyone…
